October 2014 | Research papers

This article critiques the methods by which courts commonly hear children’s views in family law disputes, and advocates the more direct approach of meetings between judges and children in the presence of a family consultant. Such meetings can give judges a better understanding of the needs and interests of individual children and give children an appropriate voice in decisions that affect them.
